Nike history

Nike, now one of the largest and most influential manufacturers of sportswear and footwear in the world, began as a small company called Blue Ribbon Sports in 1964. Founded by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman, the company initially distributed Japanese running shoes by Onitsuka Tiger in the United States.

In the 1970s, Blue Ribbon Sports was renamed Nike, a name inspired by the Greek goddess of victory. During this period, the company began developing and selling its own footwear models, which quickly became popular among athletes.

A turning point in Nike's history was the introduction of Air technology in 1979. This technology, which used air cushions in the sole of the shoe, provided better cushioning and comfort for athletes. In the 1980s, Nike became a global brand, also thanks to its collaboration with basketball star Michael Jordan and the launch of the legendary Air Jordan line.

In the 1990s and beyond, Nike focused on expanding its product range to include apparel and sports accessories. The company also invested in developing new technologies and materials to ensure that its products were always at the cutting edge.

Today, Nike is a dominant player in the sportswear and footwear market. Its logo, known as the "Swoosh", is one of the most recognizable logos in the world. Nike is a symbol of sporting success, innovation and style.
